bold goal crusher podcast podcast Jan 02, 2025

Welcome to the Bold Goal Crusher Podcast for anyone looking to stop letting life get in the way and start crushing bold goals. I'm your host, Sara Mayer, and I'm thrilled to navigate this journey with you because it's time to start boldly achieving without working double time. So, let's dive in!

Celebrating The New Year with Must-Reads

Hey, Happy New Year, Bold Goal Crushers! I'm really excited about this episode. It's an episode that I have been wanting to do for a couple of years, and I think it's really appropriate. As you may know, I sunsetted the Bold Goal Crusher Book Club this year at the end of the year due to the demanding nature of reading a book, doing an episode about it, and facilitating the group live sessions. Despite this, I am still reading and will continue delivering content about fantastic books on this podcast.

A New Chapter for The Book Club

You can still join the book club online at saramayer.com/joinbookclub. There, you'll get notified about the books I'm reading and sharing on the podcast. While we won't have live sessions, the club continues as a rich repository of insightful reads.

If you're new here, welcome to the Bold Goal Crusher podcast, where we dive deep into strategies, stories, and resources to help you break through barriers and crush your goals.

Books That Shaped My Year

Each book I've read this year has shaped my journey and pushed my thinking into new realms, contributing to how I approach goal setting, business, leadership, and personal growth. Here are some of the standout reads:

  • Same as Ever by Morgan Howe: This book reinforces the idea that while the world changes, certain principles remain steady. A major takeaway is to focus on timeless wisdom over fleeting trends.
  • The Successful Speaker by Grant Baldwin: Packed with actionable advice on crafting a professional speaking career, this book emphasizes the importance of niching down and positioning.
  • The Hidden Potential by Adam Grant: Adam explores how untapped strengths can be cultivated, stressing that success is built on perseverance and action.
  • Billion Dollar Brand Club by Lawrence Ingracia: A compelling dive into how brands like Spanx and Warby Parker disrupt industries. It reminds us that brands resonate with missions beyond profit.
  • On Our Best Behavior by Eloise Loehn: This book examines societal expectations of women and inspires breaking free from limiting beliefs.
  • Don’t Trust Your Gut by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz: This work challenges the reliance on intuition, advocating for data-driven decision making.
  • No Filter by Sara Frier: Sara Frier’s exploration of Instagram's evolution highlights business adaptability.
  • Worthy by Jamie Kern Lima: A motivational narrative that urges readers to stop waiting for permission and embrace self-worth.
  • Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt: A practical guide to goal setting that emphasizes the importance of a structured approach to achieve success.
  • Be Seen by Jen Gottlieb: Focused on personal branding, this book promotes visibility through authenticity rather than perfection.
  • The Greatness Mindset by Lewis Howes: Emphasizes leveraging potential and surrounding oneself with positive, uplifting influences.

Closing Thoughts on Books

As the year begins, remember that achieving new goals often requires learning something new. Books are a fantastic resource to gain skills and knowledge you'll need. I encourage you to formulate a goal plan and a development plan, using books as an integral resource.

Recommended Read for the Year

Highly recommended this year is *Slow Productivity* by Cal Newport. It advocates doing fewer tasks, working at a natural pace, and focusing on quality. Join the book club at saramayer.com/joinbookclub to stay updated on our reading list for the year.

Reading has shaped my mindset and strategies throughout the past year, and I hope these books inspire you too. Let me know which books stood out for you this year. I'm always eager to expand my reading list. As always, thank you for tuning in to the Bold Goal Crusher podcast – keep crushing those goals!
